At BMW, we develop a variety of intelligent robots that support our internal processes in the production plants. Our logistics robotics team offers you an innovative and international environment with flat hierarchies and high personal responsibility for projects and tasks.

What awaits you?

  • You will support applied research in Physical AI for automating logistics parts-handling tasks within the logistics robotics team.
  • Furthermore, you will help to contribute to a cutting-edge pipeline for imitation learning based on vision-language-action models.
  • In addition, you assist in curating diverse data sets for imitation learning using an industrial robotic setup.
  • Moreover, you conduct experiments on the generalization capability, robustness, and reliability of trained models across environments and settings.
  • Additionally, you will support improving and maintaining software libraries for data acquisition, generation, and data preprocessing.

What should you bring along?

  • Studies in computer science, software engineering, robotics or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge in Ubuntu, Python, ROS and Docker.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in machine learning and related packages such as PyTorch.
  • Experience with imitation learning and vision-language-action models is a plus.
  • Understanding of software engineering principles and related concepts such as test-driven development, code reviews, and Git branching.
  • Ideally, demonstrated the qualifications in real-world projects.
  • Fluent English skills, German is advantageous.
