As a Field Technician with APS, you’ll be on the front lines supporting the installation, maintenance, testing, or repair of critical systems and equipment. This is a vital role that bridges technical expertise with real-time project delivery across industries such as energy, utilities, and infrastructure. Role Summary The Field Technician will be responsible for executing technical tasks in the field, supporting operations, installation, diagnostics, testing, or repairs depending on the project scope. This role requires strong mechanical or electrical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in dynamic environments. Key Responsibilities Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and systems per project requirements Perform routine maintenance and testing on electrical, mechanical, or instrumentation components Assist with system commissioning, calibration, or field verifications Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and work orders Accurately document findings, work performed, and materials used Follow all safety procedures and site-specific protocols (PPE, LOTO, confined space, etc.) Interface with project engineers, supervisors, and client representatives on-site Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition QualificationsRequirements High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications or vocational training strongly preferred 2–5 years of field experience in electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, or utility-related work Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals Strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity with test equipment (e.g., multimeters, pressure gauges) Comfortable working in outdoor and industrial environments Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation Willingness to travel regionally or work irregular hours based on project needs Nice to Have OSHA 10 or 30 certification Experience in power generation, industrial facilities, oil & gas, or renewable energy Basic knowledge of PLCs, SCADA systems, or remote monitoring technologies Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus in many locations What You Can Expect Competitive hourly pay based on skills and certifications Project-based opportunities with potential for long-term placement Support from experienced field and technical management Benefits available to eligible employees (medical, dental, vision, etc.) Exposure to critical infrastructure and industry-leading projects
