Field Service Engineer – Robotics / Laboratory Automation

Location: Manchester / Stevenage / Cambridge / UK Travel Type: Permanent Working Pattern: Home Based / Field Based

An established international technology business operating in the life sciences and laboratory automation market is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support customers across the UK.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing company delivering cutting-edge robotic, automated and laboratory systems used by leading biotech, pharmaceutical and research organisations.

Candidates based around Manchester, Stevenage, Cambridge or nearby areas are particularly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation, commissioning and calibration of specialist systems

  • Fault finding, repair and preventative maintenance

  • Responding to technical breakdowns and customer support requests

  • Equipment upgrades, relocations and improvement work

  • Customer training on routine operation of systems

  • Accurate completion of service reports and documentation

  • Managing spare parts and field inventory

  • Working closely with internal engineering and support teams

Ideal Background

  • Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, Service Engineer or similar

  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills

  • Experience with automation, robotics, instrumentation, machinery or related equipment

  • Comfortable working independently in customer-facing environments

  • Good communication and organisational skills

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Willingness to travel regularly across the UK
