Summary

The Engineering Manager, Advanced Manufacturing is responsible for the operational performance and long-term strategic direction of both engineering and quality processes network wide. They will plan, organize, and direct the engineering functions to support the goals of the network, increase overall equipment availability and material yield. This incumbent will be responsible for managing the debottlenecking initiatives within Advanced Manufacturing to identify and mitigate specific areas in plant equipment or workflow configuration that limits the flow of our processes. They will also be responsible for overseeing Quality Systems initiatives within Advanced Manufacturing ensuring our processes and process designs are meeting quality requirements and implementing improvements to ensure optimization. They will also be responsible for providing strategic direction and vendor management to varies third-party experts.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop strategic plans and roadmap for debottlenecking sites through Value Stream Mapping from Raw Materials through Finishing

  • Identifying and optimizing Quality Systems (including technology enablement) within network

  • Lead the continual improvement of ensuring compliance with corporate quality policies and business objectives to ensure the manufacture of products with superior value

  • Lead the continual improvement in regards to waste, speed, and delay design for each product on each machine within the plant to achieve greater than 95% site yield.

  • Drive collaboration between respective departments that ensures all production and/or quality issues are addressed and resolved.

  • Measure sheet machine performance as well as net hours by utilizing data to gauge sustainability.

  • Develop metrics and reporting systems necessary to track progress and identify key improvement areas across all manufacturing systems;

  • Build relationships within the JH network to share best practices to ensure effectiveness of processes and eliminating waste of rework or redesign.

  • Maintaining close contact with the Production Manager, Maintenance Manager and Finishing Manager to ensure effective communication regarding process activities occur with minimal disruption to production operations;

  • Analyze and identify root cause of all production, quality and mechanical down-time incidents;

  • Develop and implement improvements in operational procedures to include production and quality.

  • Completing ‘Gemba’ walks in the plant to interact with production, quality, safety, and maintenance to help drive cultural change and to ensure appropriate work is being performed and that customers’ needs are being meet.

  • Drive Advanced Manufacturing initiatives by providing leadership and guidance to the designated CIMS Leads.

  • Analyze reports and recommend appropriate action with regard Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure that the department meets its respective expectations;

  • Provide oversight and knowledge of technical instruction to all pertinent employees on any relevant process changes or modifications.

What You’ll Bring:

Education/Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering (mechanical, chemical, industrial, electrical, or paper science).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • 10 – 15+ years of engineering experience in a continuous operating (24/7) manufacturing environment
  • Experience with a computer maintenance management system (CMMS), such as MP2 or similar system.
  • Working knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to be a part of cross-functional teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills with the ability to relate well and cooperate with others to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals.
  • Demonstrated advanced skills with the standard features of various personal computer word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, and other proprietary software), experience in Aspen or similar process software is a plus
  • Strong electrical and mechanical technical knowledge.
  • Ability to Value Stream Map plant processes and identify debottlenecking opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize based on business need and impact
  • Demonstrated and applied knowledge of troubleshooting quality issues.
  • Knowledgeable of root cause and fault tree analysis techniques with a proven ability to develop and implement effective corrective actions
  • Sound judgment, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prepare and present information to senior management
  • Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail and continual diligence around follow-up.
  • Strong desire to learn.
  • Well organized with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment to deliver sustainable and superior results.
  • Ability to manage the flow of all required information and documentation.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic and a willingness to work independently
  • Must be willing and able to travel 50+% of the time

What You’ll Receive:

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $145,000K to $180,000K. Placement in the range depends on several factors such as experience, skills, geography and internal equity and may change over time. This position qualifies for benefits and you will be eligible to participate in a bonus plan.
