About this Job

Job Summary

The Automation / Robotics Maintenance Technician performs skilled activities that support manufacturing business needs by maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automated production equipment. The role requires selecting and using appropriate tools, machinery, and specialty equipment to complete work with limited guidance. This position focuses on equipment reliability, safety, preventive maintenance, automation systems, and continuous improvement while ensuring safe operation of electrical, robotic, and automated industrial equipment.

Key Responsibilities Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE)

  • Stop work and immediately report unsafe conditions, major injury hazards, incidents, or near misses.
  • Comply with all HSE standards, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Apply LOTO, HIRA, and machine safety principles to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment and promote interdependent safety behaviors.
  • Identify and correct hazards within area of control and minimize environmental impact.
  • Participate in required HSE training and safety initiatives.

Equipment Reliability & Maintenance

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex machine- and automation-related issues to restore equipment functionality.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities on schedule to maintain asset health and reliability.
  • Conduct routine Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Why-Why analysis to minimize emergency breakdowns.
  • Improve equipment uptime by reducing MTTR and increasing MTBF.
  • Apply data analytics and downtime analysis to identify trends and drive reliability improvements.
  • Perform and document preventive, corrective, emergency, and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide feedback into the Preventive Maintenance system.

Automation, Robotics & Controls

  • Perform skilled work using diagrams, schematics, manuals, and specifications with appropriate tools and test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, control, servo, and robotic systems to return equipment to normal operating condition.
  • Support integration and maintenance of robotic systems (ABB, Yaskawa, FANUC), conveyors, vision systems, and PLCs.
  • Utilize platforms such as Siemens TIA Portal and Robot Studio or equivalent systems for troubleshooting and programming support.

Quality, Cost & Continuous Improvement

  • Apply high standards of workmanship and craftsmanship to ensure quality repairs and modifications.
  • Perform quality inspections and raise issues to minimize cost, quality, and reliability risks.
  • Identify, review, and maintain critical spare parts lists and inventory levels.
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives through improved maintenance practices, reduced downtime, and waste elimination.
  • Participate in key and critical projects and continuous improvement initiatives, including TPM activities.
  • Work with peers and support teams to identify manufacturing constraints and improve processes.

Teamwork & Development

  • Communicate effectively with assigned teams and cross-functional support groups.
  • Conduct on-the-job training, coaching, and periodic evaluation of new team members.
  • Support knowledge sharing and skill development within the team.
  • Complete required training and personal development aligned with business needs.
