Title: Service Technician (East Coast - Nova Scotia Preferred)

Reports To: Service Manager

Job Overview

Reporting to the Service Manager, the Service Technician is responsible for equipment installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Poseidons marine systems at customer sites.

This position will be based on the East Coast of Canada (Nova Scotia preferred) and will support all current and prospective customers across the region. The Technician will play a key role in establishing and maintaining strong service support for Poseidons growing East Coast operations. Between site visits, the Technician may support remote diagnostics, coordination with the head office team, and contribute to ongoing system performance improvements.

Given the early stage of East Coast operations, this role will also include light commercial support activities, working alongside the commercial and operations teams to support customer relationships, system optimization, and potential growth opportunities.

Job Description

Field Service & Technical Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of Poseidon systems at customer sites across the East Coast
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, automation, and communication-related issues
  • Conduct inspections, testing, and diagnostics to ensure optimal system performance and reliability
  • Support remote troubleshooting and system monitoring when not onsite
  • Complete service reports, documentation, and work orders accurately and in a timely manner

Customer Support & Commercial Contribution

  • Act as a primary service contact for East Coast customers
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding service work, system performance, and warranty matters
  • Support light commercial activities, including identifying service needs, system improvements, and potential opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Engineering, Operations) to support customer success and regional growth

Operations & Team Collaboration

  • Coordinate with internal teams to resolve technical issues and improve product performance

  • Provide feedback from the field to support continuous improvement and design enhancements

  • Assist with broader operational needs as required

  • Maintain safe work practices in marine and remote environments

  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards

Travel Requirements

  • Travel regularly across the East Coast of Canada
  • Occasional international travel may be required
  • Work in remote and marine environments as needed

Qualifications & Experience

Technical Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years experience in a related trade: heavy-duty mechanic, millwright, automotive service technician, or equivalent (Red Seal preferred)

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills

  • Experience in Crane and Rigging Operations

  • Experience with electrical systems, automation, and communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, J1939), Siemens PLC

  • Familiarity with compressors, air systems, or similar equipment is an asset

  • Experience in marine, aquaculture, or industrial environments is an asset

  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Effective communication and customer service skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy

Requirements

  • Valid drivers license (Nova Scotia or transferable)
  • Eligible for international travel
  • Ability to work in remote locations and travel frequently
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Ability to be on-call during off hours
  • Comfortable working in physically demanding and outdoor environments

Assets

  • Experience in a manufacturing or field service environment
  • Forklift and rigging experience
  • First Aid Certification
