Position Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Technician to support the Magnet Technology group in developing advanced manufacturing technologies for high-performance rare earth permanent magnets. The Senior Technician will take a lead role in executing experimental trials, operating and maintaining pilot plant equipment, preparing and testing materials, and training and guiding junior technicians. In addition, the Senior Technician will be responsible for accurate documentation, troubleshooting equipment and processes, and providing critical data and insights to support engineering and process development initiatives. This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in returning an essential manufacturing capability to the USA.
Position Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain pilot plant equipment for prototyping magnets with occasional support for production operations.
- Prepare, handle, and process raw materials, powders, and samples according to SOPs.
- Perform measurements and collect process data using laboratory instruments.
- Assist in pilot-scale experimental trials and provide accurate documentation of results.
- Train and guide junior technicians.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace.
- Work closely with EHS to ensure that all work is done to ensure world-class health and safety, and full compliance with relevant environmental regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of operation experience in manufacturing.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable with record keeping in both physical and electronic formats.
- Strong discipline in following safety practices and standard work instructions.
- Proven ability to work independently while also collaborating within cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Qualities:
- 8+ years of hands-on experience operating equipment with HMI.
- 8+ years of experience in the field of metal or ceramic manufacturing, including casting, powder processing, heat treatments, machining, and/or surface finishing.
- Experience with handling air-sensitive materials.
- Prior experience mentoring or training junior technicians and operators.
