About this Job
The Allegro team is united by a clear purpose—advancing technologies that make the world safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. With over 30 years of experience in semiconductor innovation, we bring that purpose to life across every part of the business—from breakthrough product development and customer success to how we show up for each other and the communities we serve.
The Opportunity
Do you want to play a leading role in shaping the future of safe, autonomous, and sustainable mobility? At Allegro MicroSystems, we are global leaders in power and sensing solutions, and Functional Safety is at the heart of everything we build.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Functional Safety Engineer to join our Milan Design Center. In this high-impact role, you will be the primary safety expert for complex automotive IC projects, taking full ownership of the safety lifecycle from concept to production. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will define safety architectures for our next-generation mixed-signal SoCs, ensuring they meet the most rigorous automotive standards. This is your chance to work at the cutting edge of the semiconductor industry, directly influencing the safety and reliability of the vehicles of tomorrow.
What You’ll Do
Take full ownership of all functional safety activities for product development projects, ensuring seamless execution from initial concept through to production release.
In close collaboration with the design team, define the technical safety concepts and architectures for complex mixed-signal SoCs.
Moderate and approve critical safety analyses, including DFMEA and FMEDA, and perform complex hardware architectural metric calculations.
Create and maintain the safety case, acting as the definitive technical interface for customers and external assessors on all functional safety matters.
Partner with senior designers, systems engineers, and management to ensure that safety requirements are integrated into every stage of the design process.
Ensure our products achieve full ISO 26262 compliance, maintaining Allegro’s reputation for world-class quality and reliability.
Who You Are
Experienced Professional: You typically hold a Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience in automotive functional safety.
ISO 26262 Expert: you possess comprehensive knowledge of the ISO 26262 standard and its practical application to both semiconductor hardware and software development.
Proven Track Record: You have a successful history of leading safety activities for automotive products that have reached mass production.
Technical Specialist: You are an expert in safety analysis techniques (FMEA, FMEDA, FTA) and have a deep understanding of semiconductor failure modes.
Strategic Communicator: You possess excellent analytical and project management skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and present complex safety concepts clearly.
Certified (Preferred): Functional Safety certification (e.g., CFSP, CFSE) is highly desirable and considered a significant plus.
