SCADA Technician
The SCADA Technician maintains Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) related systems, including remote telemetry units (RTUs), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), instrumentation, and SCADA related radio network.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on all SCADA equipment applying knowledge of computers, PLC's, radios, and wiring utilized in the network.
- Performs precise, accurate, calibration of instruments as well as repair/replacement activities.
- Troubleshoots PLC programs and HMI applications.
- Troubleshoots any operational or electrical issues, coordinating as required with maintenance and operations, through to resolution.
- Implements new installations of equipment from electrical, electronic controllers, transmitters, client devices, and peripherals etc.
- Coordinates needs for additional support with Technology and Operations departments.
- Manages and troubleshoots HMI, Servers, PLC, and other equipment programs/software.
- Maintains a change management log of all system changes and submits reports accordingly.
- Reviews flow charts, pressure charts, etc., to monitor equipment performance
- Maintains an adequate inventory of tools, parts and equipment
- Maintains up to date programs and copies of system equipment.
- Provides daily reconciliations, including work orders, requisitions, and purchase orders.
- Must be able to adequately read and interpret electrical and mechanical diagrams.
- Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, co-workers, other department supervisors and employees, engineers, contractors, other government agencies, City/County personnel, sales and service representatives, and the general public.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- After hours and weekend call rotation with team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by five (5) years of experience in maintenance of Instrumentation and Controls or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Possess a working knowledge of field I/O devices, general instrumentation concepts, and knowledge of SCADA systems (PLC programming, electronic instrumentation) in area of water plant operations. Instrumentation Certification preferred.
