PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

Responsible for the operational oversight and set up of the Axium system for handing blanks off to the cutter and assist in the setup of the cutter to produce quality product at the desired target speed of each run.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Sets-up, store, and retrieve jobs from the computer
  • Teaches the robot new stacking patterns
  • Sets-up and maintain the bundler
  • Stores, retrieves, and set-up the label printer
  • Makes tooling adjustments to the vibrators
  • Adjusts incorrect counts as they come off the cutter
  • Identifies and corrects poorly sealed counts from the bundler
  • Ensures pallets leaving the area are correct per the job ticket and quality standards
  • Responsible for ensuring the quality of the product
  • Responsible for labeling and stacking of product
  • Ensures delivery of pallets and tie sheets
  • Assists the cutter operator with set-ups and other support when necessary
  • Provides the cutter operator with information needed for ERP System
  • Picks up off the cutter when the Axium system cannot be used
  • Follows all instructions issued on the work jacket and advise the supervisor and Operator of any incorrect or non-recorded information that is necessary for proper set up and operation
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and assist in repair of machine malfunctions; performs routine cleaning and maintenance
  • Effectively utilize any machine downtime (not including approved breaks) by assisting with set-up or performing other tasks associated with maintaining a clean work environment or as otherwise instructed by a supervisor
  • Communicates well with other team members
  • Wears appropriate PPE for the task and the area.
  • Welcomes updates and improvements to processes and follow new procedures and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation
  • Performs work in a manner that keeps down time to a minimum
  • Maintains a clean work environment in accordance with Food Safety and 5S systems
  • Follows all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines. Use situational awareness and identify unsafe behaviors and conditions
  • May be asked to help with duties in other areas or departments

**AUTHORITY:**Must have the ability to lead others that have been placed with them to execute the demands of the cutting operation efficiently and to respond to oral instructions from his/her supervisor and other written instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:**High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have mathematical skills, ability to calculate formulas, basic computer skills, and possess ability to utilize software. Must have mechanical ability and skills.

**LANGUAGE SKILLS:**Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions as needed.

**MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:**Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide both fractions and decimals, solve equations, read a tape measure, and have an understanding of both standard and metric measuring systems.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS:**While performing the duties of this job, is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with arms and hands. Frequently is required to climb, balance, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Operator frequently must lift/move 25 to 75 pounds. Must be able to perform these functions for a minimum of 8 hours straight (with a 30-minute meal break and any other applicable breaks during his/her shift) on a regular basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team member successfully performing the essential functions of this job. Regular attendance and reporting for work on time are necessary requirements as is availability for overtime work if necessary.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT:**Exposure to a dusty atmosphere with loud noise, which will require both eye and ear protection in some areas. Moving mechanical parts will also be exposed; safety guards have been put in place for the safety of all Team members but during set up, if a machine must be broken down and reassembled to complete the next job, questions regarding such operation should be directed to your supervisor as they arise.
