Position Summary: We're looking for a Robotics Field Service Engineer who wants to make an impact.

In this role, you'll install, commission, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize robotic automation systems at customer facilities throughout West Michigan. You'll receive one-on-one technical training in robotics, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting while gaining hands-on experience with a wide variety of manufacturing processes and automation technologies.

Location: Full-time hourly position onsite in Holland, MI. This position requires 50-60% local, non-overnight travel and up to 25% overnight travel. Shop hours are 7am-4pm.

Compensation & Benefits: Pay: $30-$45 hourly, based on experience.

What You’ll Do: As a Robotics Field Service Engineer at Mission Design & Automation, you will:

• Install, upgrade, troubleshoot and/or repair industrial automation systems at customer facilities
• Diagnose and repair a wide variety of industrial robots and peripheral equipment using systematic troubleshooting methods 
• Provide remote technical support by phone or other communication platforms, assisting customers with troubleshooting, diagnostics, and issue resolution
• Perform preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, and system audits to maximize equipment reliability
• Analyze robot performance, cycle times, and process efficiency, implementing improvements where appropriate to optimize system performance
• Perform mechanical and electrical repairs on industrial robots, with a primary focus on FANUC robotic systems
• Collaborate with Engineering, Build, and Controls teams during equipment installation at customer sites
• Support equipment upgrades, retrofits, modifications, and system enhancements for existing customer automation systems
• Provide on-site operator, maintenance, and programming training to customers to ensure safe and effective equipment operation
• Have the opportunity to participate in certified robotics training programs
• Maintain a safe work environment by following company policies, customer safety requirements, and all applicable industry standards
• Accurately document service activities, including troubleshooting findings, repairs performed, parts used, recommendations, and time and expense reports, submitting all required documentation in a timely manner
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships by delivering professional service, communicating effectively, and responding promptly to customer needs

What You Bring: Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the automation industry
• Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with robotics and/or automation
• Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials (BOMs)
• Ability to diagnose complex equipment issues using systematic troubleshooting techniques and implement effective corrective actions
• Resourceful problem solver who effectively utilizes internal engineering resources, OEM technical support, documentation, and suppliers to resolve technical issues.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with FANUC robot programming, including iRVision, Roboguide, DCS, CollisionGuard, SpotTool, ArcTool, etc. 
• Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting
