About this Job
About the Role
Join Ultra as our first dedicated Assembly Technician and help us scale from prototypes to production—building 10+ AI-native industrial robots per month, with aggressive growth planned for the months ahead.
You'll work directly with our engineering team at our Brooklyn headquarters, taking ownership of the complete assembly process for our fleet of warehouse automation robots. This role is critical: you'll establish our production quality standards and processes as we scale from tens to hundreds of deployed systems.
What You'll Do
Core Responsibilities
- Build complete robot systems from fabricated parts, PCBs, motors, sensors, and compute modules
- Fabricate and integrate custom wiring harnesses, including soldering, crimping, and professional cable management
- Ensure assembly quality standards: proper strain relief, correct torque specifications, clean wire routing, and reliable connections
- Perform functional testing and verification of assembled systems before deployment
- Document assembly issues and recommend process improvements as we iterate on designs
- Support occasional deployment, troubleshooting, and field service as needed
What We're Looking For
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of hands-on assembly experience in electromechanical systems (automotive, industrial equipment, robotics, or similar)
- Demonstrated proficiency with soldering and cable fabrication
- Strong attention to detail and quality control mindset—you take pride in work that's built to last
- Comfortable with hand tools, power tools, and assembly fixtures
- Manual dexterity for both precision work and general assembly
- Ability to regularly lift 50+ pounds
- Basic computer skills (email, documentation, internet)
Preferred
- Technical degree or certification (automotive technology, electronics, mechatronics, etc.)
- Experience with root-cause analysis and troubleshooting in engineering production environments
- Background in quality control or process improvement initiatives
- Strong interest in tinkering and making cool things
- Familiarity with torque specifications, fastener types, and mechanical best practices
