We are seeking an experienced and skilled Principal Industrial Engineer to lead and drive implementations of continuous improvement initiatives through digital twin solutions across Collins Aerospace’s factory operations. As a senior member of the team, you will take on a technical leadership role to drive a global team in the development and implementation of digital twin technologies and capabilities to optimize efficiency, quality, and innovation in industrial operations. This position demands technical expertise, a strategic mindset, and will serve as a mentor to junior engineers while ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects. In addition, you will be a key contributor to our continuous improvement and innovation efforts, helping to shape the future of our industrial operations.
What You Will Do
Lead technical deployment initiatives and efforts in a global team to support continuous improvement of manufacturing operations with a main focus on factory simulation and factory scanning initiatives.
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of team practices to identify inefficiencies, performance gaps, and areas for process optimization and improvement. Lead and champions best practices in the development of detailed process documentation and standardization.
Drives discussions with leadership teams to align engineering initiatives with business objectives and operational goals.
Benchmark, develop and evaluate tools and processes to enhance team capabilities for optimized deliveries.
Ensures compliance with industry standards and best practices in system design, deployment and maintenance.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and cross functional teams.
Qualifications You Must Have *
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial/ Mechanical Engineering or related field Minimum years of experience in similar role: At least 10-12 years
Qualifications We Prefer
Experienced in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and continuous improvement frameworks in factory operations such as value stream mapping, process mapping, 3P etc.
Proven experience in factory simulation technology (Siemens Plant Simulation, FlexSim, Visual Components etc) processes, validation methods and best practices
Proven technical leadership skills, with experience mentoring junior engineers, leading and collaborating with a global technical team
Experienced in factory 3D scanning for digital twin initiatives.
Proven experience in design of experiment (DoE) methodologies.
Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills, with the ability to communicate requirements and convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong project management skills are good to have.
Experiences with other Industry 4.0 technologies such as real-time locating systems (RTLS), AMRs/AGVs and advanced robotics are good to have.
