About this Job

About us

Dyson is offering an exciting internship opportunity within our highly successful Electrical Power Systems group - a global, multidisciplinary team leading the development of electronics for Dyson Digital Motors and Lithium-Ion battery management. Dyson Digital Motors are small, lightweight, and incredibly powerful, powering our next generation of handheld vacuum cleaners and the revolutionary hair care products. Based in Singapore, you’ll help expand our Power Electronics capability and work on cutting-edge technologies such as motor drivers, heater controllers, and battery management systems - shaping the future of Dyson products.

About the role

As an intern, you’ll take on responsibilities such as:

  • Designing electronic circuits for consumer electronics applications

  • Testing and analysing electronics at both circuit and product levels to validate our designs.

  • Developing test instruments for hardware verification.

  • Designing and developing algorithms and firmware to achieve user-centred functionality and effective system integration.

  • Solving electronics challenges to deliver better, faster, more cost-effective, and energy-efficient solutions for Dyson’s unique products

You’ll also collaborate with teams across Research, Design & Development (RDD), including product developers, mechanical engineers, and software engineers, to ensure our solutions are functional, secure, and user-friendly. Throughout your internship, we’ll support you with a structured development framework designed to help you make the most of your experience.

About you

  • Studying Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.

  • Good understanding of electronics design, including amplifiers and comparator circuits.

  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor devices such as MOSFETs, BJTs, and diodes, with practical application expertise

  • Able to show how you’ve applied technical knowledge through your university projects or as part of your co-curricular activities.

  • Creative problem-solver, focused on improving product performance.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred skills:

  • Familiarity with C programming and basic microcontroller concepts.

  • Interest in real-time embedded systems and control systems.

  • Exposure to Python programming for automation or testing.

Dyson solves real-world problems and creates better products through the application of engineering, science, design and creativity. It is a family-owned, global technology company, founded by Sir James Dyson who remains at the helm alongside his son Jake. Since inventing the first cyclonic bagless vacuum cleaner, the DC01, Dyson has consistently invested in research and development to improve its products and technologies radically. Dyson offers products across a growing range of areas: floorcare, air purification, robotics, haircare including formulations, lighting, hand drying, and most recently audio. Dyson continues to expand into new areas. Today, Dyson sells products in more than 80 markets, has 450 Dyson stores worldwide and is available in all major technology and beauty retailers. Dyson has global headquarters in Singapore and major technology campuses in Singapore, the UK, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Its global team of engineers, scientists and software developers are focused on developing technology-enabled products which work better and which people love to use. Key areas of focus have included high-speed electric digital motors, sensing and vision systems, robotics, machine learning and aerodynamics. Beyond products, to encourage an inventive future, Dyson is also inspiring the next generation of engineers and inventors through the Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology, the James Dyson Foundation and the James Dyson Award. The Dyson family applies its problem-solving approach in other fields, and established Dyson Farming in 2012. It is one of the largest farming businesses in the UK, extending to 36,000 acres across Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and Somerset. It is a family-owned enterprise unlike any other, focussed on long-term investment in British farming and the countryside to grow tasty and nutritious food.
