Responsibilities

Packaging technicians are responsible for working in the food production line and to ensure that the best quality standards are being met in the packaging of all eagle brand food products. In addition, the Packaging technician will be responsible for running and maintaining packaging department equipment (conveyors, labelers, scales, palletizers, and other related packaging equipment) performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on assigned machines.

  • Performstartupchecksat the beginning of each shift.
  • Performmachinesetupbefore each shift and perform testing procedures to ensure that machines work optimally during productionlogging results electronically by hour against set efficiency targets.
  • Performroutine time-basedtests to ensure machines are producing quality products (i.e., seal, visual, weight, etc.).
  • Performfront linepreventative maintenance.
  • Monitorand perform routine adjustments and calibrations on eachmachine (packaging machine,scales).
  • Monitor all productto be packagedto ensure best quality standards are being metagainst provided work instructions.
  • Oversee efficient and safe operation of all equipment on the line.
  • Review appropriate production schedules for the line to ensure correct equipment setups have been made and appropriate packaging material are present for efficient productivity.
  • Ensureall materials are properly counted, weighed, and labelled with correct label information.
  • Ensure that all partial pallets, bags, containers, are available and accessible as well as having proper documentation such as part number,weights,andexpiration dates.
  • Ensure that all material and packaging are correct and meet all the customerand Companyspecificationsagainst provided work instructions.
  • Ensure adequate housekeeping in the work area throughout the day to include maintaining and cleaning machine(s) before and after eachshift.
  • Ensures understanding of MSDS and can follow chemical handling procedures.
  • Ensures compliance of Pack 2 equipment, can follow procedure for pulling pull quality samples.
  • Can follow evaporated milk hold procedures and understands filler room sanitation procedures.
  • Basic troubleshooting for: labelers, palletizers, Kawasaki Robot, DRP, Fillers, Seamers
  • Generates workorders

Qualifications

  • Completion of a High School Diploma or GED required.
  • The ability to communicate and take directions effectively and efficiently in the English language, both verbal and written.
  • 1-year of packaging operator experience preferred.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with a mechanical understanding of machinery.
  • Basic computer and tablet skills, including familiarity with common applications and internet use.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Experience withGMP’s,HACCP,andFood Safetyrequirements preferred.
