Assist Manufacturing Engineers in the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement. And key focuses on supporting
- The introduction, commissioning, and improvement of automated assembly, inspection, and smart tooling equipment, ensuring new processes and equipment are launched smoothly, and supporting automation and digitalization upgrades of production lines.
- The Continue Improvements implementation in safety, quality, velocity and cost
What You Will Do:
- Participate in technical reviews for new automated equipment, support the preparation of technical specifications and agreements.
- Monitor equipment installation, debugging, and integration, assist in resolving process- and equipment-related issues on site for new automated equipment
- Support the development of new equipment acceptance criteria, assist in initial setup and validation of process parameters, and organize technical documentation (manuals, maintenance guides, program backups).
- Track equipment performance for new automated equipment during initial ramp-up, collect data, and support optimization to achieve designed cycle time and stability.
- Work closely with MEs and Production teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation by participating in process optimization and efficiency projects, supporting error-proofing development, introducing new automated equipment etc.
- Providing technical expertise for Robotic and automated systems’ programming, Write, modify, and debug Fanuc/UR/ABB robot programs to meet production requirements and improve efficiency.
- Work with the maintenance team to conduct repairs on automated systems and robots as needed.
- Provide basic operation/troubleshoot training to line operators, maintenance technicians
- Other duties assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of related experience
- Strong technical aptitude with a focus on automation, robotics and mechatronics.
- Experience programming and integrating robots, such as FANUC, ABB, KUKA or Co-bots into assembly processes/systems.
- Familiar with basic knowledge of PLC and data monitoring; understanding of sensors and pneumatic/electric actuators.
- Intermediate proficiency computer skills with experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Able to read and understand technical documentation in English.
