JOB SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Equipment Technician supports a low-volume, semi-automated light assembly operation by maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving production equipment and fixtures. Responsibilities include preventive and corrective maintenance, setup and changeover, basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, calibration and documentation support, and coordination with production and engineering to minimize downtime. The role also supports continuous improvement, safety, and compliance with quality and regulatory requirements in a manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties as assigned.

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations in support of production activities and equipment.
  • Partner with Engineering to evaluate, test, validate and implement new production assembly tooling, fixtures, and automated equipment.
  • Maintain spares parts lists and manage Preventative Maintenance (PM) programs, while also performing required PM activities.
  • Supports daily production, test & troubleshoot equipment issues, determine root cause. For component supplier related root causes, provide supporting information relative to out-of-spec conditions.
  • Achieve targets set forth for improvements in process cycle time, yield, efficiency, productivity to achieve business goals.
  • Supports and drive lean manufacturing, waste elimination, standard work, and work cell concepts.
  • Utilizes optical comparator to measure and verify fixture, tooling and component dimensions.
  • Pursues continuous improvement through training and process improvement.
  • Adheres to the principles of "5S" to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Participate in company sponsored training and process improvement activities.
  • Comply with all ICC Policies and all applicable elements of ICC Quality Management System.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma required.
  • 2+ yr Technical or Trade school in engineering or equipment technology preferred
  • 3+ yrs. industry experience supporting volume manufacturing

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent comprehension of engineering drawings and manufacturing procedures
  • 2-3 years hands-on manufacturing tooling and fixture experience required
  • 2-3 years PLC programming (or similar electronic equipment controller programming) required
  • Interconnect, fiber optics and cable/harness assembly experience a plus.
  • Aerospace & defense experience a plus.
  • AS9100D/ISO9001 experience a plus.
  • Proficient in 2D & 3D CAD -- AutoCAD, ProE preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Office; Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers, and customers. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers (paperwork, typing, using mouse/keyboard). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close visual acuity to perform activities such as inspecting manufactured parts (with and without magnification), preparing/analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus and ability to distinguish colors and color variation of physical parts and components, and in documentation such as work instructions and engineering drawings.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work.)
