About this Job

Summary of Position: The entry level Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair & maintain production & facility equipment according to safety, predictive & productive maintenance systems & processes to the to support the achievement of the sites business goals & objectives.

Duties of Position:

  • Perform highly diversified duties to install & maintain production machines & the plant facilitys equipment
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production & performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
  • Perform simple machinist duties & responsibilities
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting & repair of production machines
  • Read & interpret equipment manuals & work orders to perform required maintenance & service
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test & make adjustments
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment & plant facilities
  • Use a variety of hand & power tools, electric meters & material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Familiar with PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Experience with CNC Machine tools with ability to diagnose and make general repairs
  • Adhere to all safety policies; identify & report unsafe conditions to Supervisor
  • Maintain a safe clean & organized work area
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Education Requirements:

  • AA degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance preferred.
  • Training and/or equal experience in CNC tools, pneumatic and hydraulic presses, motor winding equipment, general facility maintenance and assembly equipment
  • High school diploma/GED & completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education & production maintenance experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to use calipers, micrometers, tape measures, etc., with precision
  • Ability to work on teams or alone
  • Ability to read & perform basic mathematics
  • Basic computer skills

Working Conditions:

  • May be exposed to loud noises, dirt, dust & fumes; moving mechanical parts & vibration on a regular basis
  • Production floor is not temperature-controlled year round
  • Intermittent outdoor work as needed

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift &/or move minimum 75 pounds for most machinery
  • This position is very active & requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, & climbing all day
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception & ability to adjust focus
