We have an opportunity for anIntern Bachelor/Master– student R&Dto join our Industrial Automation team at Honeywell inMainz-Kastel, Germany

Towards digitalization of mechanical metering systems, developing digital-twin models is the up-coming step, which benefits deeper understanding in the metering system and metrology, as well as detailed control in the operation condition. These knowledges further lead to the capability of predictive maintenance and rapid trouble shooting for operational anomaly. To develop competent digital models, solid product quality and consistent data generation are the necessary components. These require test devices for specific features, especially to quantify bearing and gear friction effects.

This opportunity is part of our University Relations program, designed to help students and recent graduates launch their careers with hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities for growth within Honeywell. Thisinternshipis set up for 12 months and aims to start in Q3 2026.

Responsibilities:

In the framework of the working student and thesis activity, a dynamic turbine meter model is targeted as the final goal to describe the different operational scenarios. Cooperating with establishing solid test methods for quality control and production, the relevant work obtains:

·Standardize the test procedure for incoming bearings inspection and gear verification.

·Calibration of modeling parameters for gear relevant effects in generic conditions.

·Validation of turbine meter model in steady state condition and the evaluations in hydrogen related applications

·Analysis of system fatigue by simulating specific scenarios

Skills and Qualifikation

  • Bachelor’s or Master´s Student in Mechanical Engineering or related fields
  • Fluent in German C1-C2 and English B1-B2
  • Enthusiastic about learning new things in a challenging environment.
  • Interested in collaborating with developers, production, and after-sales teams.
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems and the ability to work as a reliable team player.
  • Basic knowledge in CAD and simulation tools.
