About this Job

At ASI, we are revolutionizing industries with state-of-the-art autonomous robotics solutions. Within the fields of agriculture, construction, landscaping, and logistics, we deliver technologies that enhance safety, productivity, and efficiency. With our core values of Simplicity, Safety, Transparency, Humility, Attention to Detail and Growth guiding everything we do, we're shaping the future of automation in dynamic markets.

As a GNC Engineer in R&D, you will solve challenging guidance, navigation, and control problems using state of the art techniques, develop simulations to validate controls designs, and work with multidisciplinary teams to implement and verify controls solutions on unmanned ground vehicles. You will contribute to both theoretical development and applied validation, helping transition novel controls and localization methods into fielded, reliable systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop guidance, navigation, control, and localization algorithms for ground vehicles.

  • Model mechanical, electrical, and system level dynamics to derive and validate controls solutions.

  • Develop simulation environments to evaluate stability, robustness, and performance of candidate controllers.

  • Implement, test, and debug controls and localization solutions in collaboration with software, firmware, and systems engineers.

  • Support integration and validation of controls algorithms on physical vehicles and testbeds.

  • Analyze test and simulation data to refine models, estimators, and control performance.

  • Document designs, simulations, analyses, and test results in company report format.

  • Synthesize controls solutions to problems of strategic interest to the company.

  • Advise and assist other GNC engineers and provide technical leadership in the controls domain.

  • Contribute to proposals, patents, and publishable research when applicable.

  • Help install, commission, and provide technical support for controls products as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 5+ years of experience as a GNC Engineer designing controls and localization algorithms, writing proposals, taking detailed documentation, and utilizing programming languages such as Python, C++, C, or ROS.

  • Strong understanding of machine learning techniques, data modeling, and model deployment workflows.

  • Solid foundation in control theory, vehicle dynamics, navigation algorithms, or related GNC domains.

  • Experience integrating models into real-time or near real-time systems and tuning for latency and performance.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability to translate system behavior into technical solutions.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary engineering teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
