As a Power Electronics Firmware Intern at OmniOn Power, you will work with the R&D Engineering team to develop the firmware/ software for the AC/DC and DC/DC converters-based power supplies. This is an onsite role based in Plano, Texas.

The internship is estimated to begin towards the end of May 2026 through beginning August 2026, 10 weeks.

This position reports to:

R&D Engineering Manager based in Plano, Texas

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Must be able to work out of the OmniOn Power HQ located in Plano, TX during the duration of the internship.
  • Strong software design knowledge, especially for desktop applications
  • Solid programming skills in at least one of: C++, C#/.NET, or Python
  • Experience with a GUI framework (e.g., Qt, WPF, or similar)
  • Good understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns, and clean code practices
  • Familiarity with communication protocols commonly used in embedded/industrial systems (e.g., TCP/IP, UART, CAN, Modbus, etc.)
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows
  • Basic knowledge of UI/UX principles for building intuitive user interfaces
