Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This role involves traveling to customer sites, primarily in the mid-west region, to perform maintenance, repair, and installation services on a wide range of Instron’s servo-hydraulic structural testing products.
As a Field Service Engineer (FSE), you will work within a global team to understand system assemblies and sub-assemblies, including their hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, PLC, and software interconnections. You will provide both on-site and remote support to customers.
You will interface with headquarters in Darmstadt Germany to ensure accurate and timely responses to customer inquiries regarding support, spare parts, upgrades, and additional services. Opportunities for travel to domestic and international locations is available.
Instron provides a company vehicle, tools, laptop, smartphone, and the support of a well-established service operation. Overnight travel is expected to be approximately 50%.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or equivalent military/trade school training.• Strong understanding of electro-mechanical systems, including hydraulic, mechanical, and electronic components.• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation related to servo-hydraulic systems.• Proficiency with PCs, operating systems, and Microsoft Office applications.• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, electronics soldering, and software/firmware installation.
- Prior field service experience.• Experience with multi-axis hydraulic test equipment.• Familiarity with PID control of servo-hydraulic actuators.• Knowledge of Siemens and Weidmueller automation systems.• Understanding of sensor calibration.• Experience operating overhead cranes for actuator and hydraulic component placement.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills.• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.• Bilingual applicants (German and English) are encouraged to apply.
