About this Job
The Field Automation Technician will work under general supervision to diagnose and determine repairs of electronic instrumentation and automation equipment. They will use software and technical manuals for diagnostics.
Duties and Responsibilities
Field Operations
- Responsible for rigging up, servicing, troubleshooting and tear down of specialized equipment.
- Configure and communicate with field devices using digital, analog, and Modbus inputs.
- Develop, test, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs using Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and C#.
- Integrate field devices with cloud services (e.g., WEBIQ-OPCUA, MQTT) through secure VPN connections.
- Provide technical support to field operators, assisting with on-site diagnostics and client operational or data-related inquiries.
Cloud Operations
- Establish and maintain data links between field devices and cloud-based platforms.
- Utilize WEBIQ SCADA software to build client dashboards, configure trending data views, and set alarms/alerts using JavaScript.
- Create pages on WEBIQ to allow remote control of various systems for us and the clients.
- Collaborate with IT teams to create direct data pipelines for client access.
- Perform various cloud-related programming tasks, including data aggregation and distribution using technologies such as MQTT and Python scripting.
- Provide 24-hour support in emergencies if systems fail during off hours.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to be an effective team player.
- Self-motivated with the initiative to complete tasks independently and without supervision.
Education and Experience
- 1-2 years of experience working as an automation technician.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
Working Environment
- Monday through Friday work week, with overtime and travel as required.
