CONTROLS ENGINEER (Permanent) Our client, an established manufacturing company in the Clarence, NY area, is looking to hire a Controls Engineer or a Controls Technician/Specialist to join their growing team.This position is open due to an upcoming retirement. This is the sole Controls Engineer within the organization that will work closely with other engineering team members and maintenance.
Responsibilities:
Perform daily responsibilities creating, programming, commissioning, and maintaining controls systems to support machine automation systems
Read, develop, and interpret industrial schematics
Program PLCs and troubleshoot equipment issues to achieve speedy resolution
Design and develop control systems for automated equipment
Identify operations where automation can be implemented to eliminate tasks performed by hand
Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers to implement and program new automation equipment
Implement and program Servo Drive motion control systems
Analyze, develop, and modify HMI & Graphical Programming systems
Diagnose and resolve controls and electrical issues in order to support seamless floor operations
Analyze current and create new panel layouts, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams—provide detailed documentation
Collaborate with production and design engineers to integrate various sensors, motion control systems, and drives into existing equipment (timers, proximity sensors, encoders, panel meters, etc.)
Procure and assemble electrical control components/HMI/PLC on control panels
Ensure efforts are in compliance with safety standards and OSHA requirements
Work well in a team environment as well as independently
Juggle multiple projects at a time, working efficiently in a fast-paced environment on continuous improvement and automation projects
Other duties as assigned/as necessary
Details:
Position is full-time, direct hire
100% in-office; 1st shift Monday through Friday (start time negotiable between 6:00am-8:00am EST)
$70,000 - $125,000 depending on experience

Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering with relevant experience; Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
2+ years’ experience in manufacturing/industrial automation
Experience with PLC programming, panel building, servo motion controls, electrical prints/schematics, ladder logic required
Graphical Programming, Diagrammatic Programming, Visual Programming, Block Coding experience
PLC and HMI experience required
Great interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong organization skills, analytical, and time management skills
Meticulous attention to detail
Self-motivated
Relocation not available
