Asset management involves the systematic process of developing, operating, maintaining, and upgrading assets in a cost-effective manner to ensure optimal performance and value. The roles will involve working collaboratively with various sites and across different business functions, including Strategic Operations, IT, and Innovation. Each of these areas focuses on improving data quality and developing innovative solutions to support AI and Advanced Analytics. 

  • Asset Information Management:  Will manage and analyze comprehensive data regarding an asset's history, specifications, maintenance records, and operational costs tracked across various asset information systems. This information helps in making informed decisions about maintenance schedules and capital expenditures.
  • Robotics and Sensors: Explore or oversee the use of robotics for asset inspection , improving safety and data quality. research on sensor-based systems (IoT devices, SCADA systems) to collect real-time data on asset health and performance. This continuous monitoring is crucial for predictive maintenance.
  • AI Analytics and Monitoring & Diagnostics: Develop and leverage AI, data analytics, machine learning, and statistical methods to evaluate equipment performance and system health, operational efficiency and automation of processes, and prediction of failures / areas for improvement.

Our paid 10-week Summer Developmental Internship program runs from June 2 - August 7, 2026. As an Intern, you will receive professional development, on-the job experience in the energy industry, exposure to executives, and networking opportunities to help build a solid foundation for your future career.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in department-specific projects, analysis, research methods and learn project management skills
  • Support team in developing business solutions that contribute to NYPA’s VISION2030 strategic goals
  • Research industry trends and emerging technologies to contribute to the continuous improvement of our programs
  • Other projects as assigned; will vary based on focus area

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task with competing priorities
  • Ability to work both independently and collaborate as part of a team
  • Provide positive customer service for internal and external stakeholders

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Enrollment in an associate’s, undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university is required. Recent graduates are not eligible for our Developmental Internship program.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States for the duration of the internship from June 2 - August 7
